 The PowerCore I 1800 switches over to backup power automatically when a power failure occurs. This happens so quickly that in most cases the home appliance that is connected to the PowerCore won’t even detect the power failure and depending on the appliances size can run for hours off of the PowerCore's fully charged battery. When the utility company's power is re-established, the PowerCore's built in AC battery charger will begin charging its internal battery in preparation for the next power failure.
